Mencap is now Eddie’s

Local learning disability charity Cambridgeshire Mencap has announced its division into two charities: The Edmund Trust and Eddie’s.

General Manager of The Edmund Trust and Eddie’s, Lyn Jenkins said: “Becoming two separate charities was necessary to enable us to fundraise more effectively in the current financial climate. We also felt the time was right to leave the Mencap name behind. We have always operated independently, serving and supporting local people, and now we feel that is much clearer to the service users, volunteers and stakeholders involved with both charities.”

The new names were chosen with the aim of creating contemporary, friendly new brand identities. The first Cambridge Mencap residence was called Edmund House so designers CantellDay were careful to keep a shared history in mind.

Both organisations will continue to work across Cambridgeshire, with offices in March and Fulbourn, supported living residences in Milton and a respite house in Histon.
