FOUR members of Wisbech Hockey Club are busy training in preparation for their toughest opponent yet.
Jane Peggs, Claire Apted, Jodi Peggs and Joanne Gomm will be taking part in the Snowdonia challenge, which involves them in completing a 40-mile mountain cycle ride, climbing Mount Snowdon and crossing the 1.5 mile Llyn Gwynant in two rafted Canadian canoes roped together.
The women are hoping to complete the challenge in eight hours, and want to raise as much money as possible for the charity REGAIN, which supports men and women who become paralysed as a result of a sporting accident.
Every day in the UK, two people become paralysed as a result of a spinal injury, with a large percentage of these cases due to sporting injuries.
All money raised is used to provide specialised equipment, such as wheelchairs and voice activated computers, helping tetraplegics ‘regain’ indepedence.
