AN Elm family are hoping someone can shed some light on the mystery of the mummified cat.
Anita Bowles, her partner Paul Brooker and daughter Katelyn (8) were walking along Nene Quay in Wisbech on Saturday when they spotted the remains of the animal, leaning up against one of the buildings.
Anita said: “It looks really old. Did it get trapped and die or was it one of those folklore things? How did it get there?”
She said she was tempted to pick the cat up and take it to the museum, but when she went back later it was gone.
Anita wondered whether the builders doing work along the Quay discovered it or whether it was found in one of the houses.
“I can’t believe someone just put it outside,” she added.
