New clerk for Sutton Bridge Parish Council

Sutton Bridge Parish Council has welcomed a new clerk, Robert Smith, to follow in the respected footsteps of Suzanne England.

Robert joined the council on February 6 and Suzanne, who has been in post for six years, will remain with the council until the end of March to ensure a smooth handover.

Robert (52), a father of four, has lived in Sutton Bridge with his wife, Claire, since 2000.

He said: “It’s a very busy parish office, there’s lots going on and I am finding it very enjoyable.

“I am looking forward to getting more involved in village life.”

Robert has been clerk to Tilney St Lawrence Parish Council in Norfolk for the last couple of years.

Originally from Wisbech, Robert has devoted most of his working life – more than 30 years – to the food industry.
