Things are looking good for March’s bumper Christmas market, the first of its kind to be held in the town.
Plans are well advanced for the event on December 8. More than 70 stalls have been booked, with about 10 spaces still available.
The event will run from 10am to 4pm and will fill Broad Street and part of the High Street with an extensive craft fair on the market place.
There will be a Santa’s Grotto within a Winter Wonderland at March Town Hall, free funfair rides for children all day and various street entertainers. Next to the War Memorial there will be performances from local bands, a brass band and junior school carol singing.
Cllr Pop Jolley, Fenland Council’s portfolio holder for markets and events, said: “I hope local people get behind this and help to make it a regular item on the local events calendar.
“The Town Council are really supportive with the Rotary Club, 20Twenty Productions and Fencraft Fairs all helping put the event together.”
March Mayor Andrew Pugh, said: “The town council has been trying to get something like this for the past 10 years and we’re delighted that it’s finally come to fruition.”
Road closures will be in place from 7am to 7pm.
