Youngsters are now able to read a book in a new library which has been created as part of a school’s centenary celebrations.

Ten Mile Bank Primary School is marking its 100th anniversary this year with a host of exciting events and projects, which includes the library.

Now the staff and children are hoping to raise £1,000 to stock the library with new books and furniture.

Teacher Maria Higgins said: “We didn’t have a space for a library here before.

“We wanted to create somewhere nice and quiet for children to go and read a book.

“Children are able to go to read individually or it can be used by a whole class.

“This is something the school council have wanted for a very long time.”

The school will also be holding a centenary fun day on Saturday, July 5, to mark the big anniversary.
