A new recruit has joined Manea Fire Station.

Retired gas emergency engineer Clive Proctor, 48, is among the 11 new firefighters to have passed out as on-call firefighters. Mr Proctor enjoys DIY and building, shooting and spending time with his young daughter. The new recruits are now on-call after completing three months of training at the service’s training centre in Huntingdon.

Mr Proctor will combine his usual job with responding to incidents. Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service is now recruiting for more on-call firefighters. Firefighters have to be aged 18 and over, have a good level of all-round fitness and live or work within five minutes travelling time of an on-call fire station.
