People with hearing difficulties are set to benefit after a charity extended its services to the Fens.

Cambridgeshire Hearing Help (formerly CAMTAD) has been active across the county for a number of years, but has now received funding to roll its valuable services across the district.

The charity is now opening three new monthly hearing help sessions in Wisbech and March, starting at the end of the month.

At the drop-in sessions, NHS hearing aid users can have their aids serviced, pick up new batteries and get advice on the best use of aids and other equipment such as TV amplifiers or telephones.

Charity director Frances Dewhurst, who suffers with hearing loss herself, said: “People consistently underestimate the impact of hearing impairment on everyday lives and fail to make use of the services available.”

The first hearing help session will be held at the St Raphael Club in Love Lane, Wisbech, on the fourth Monday of every month from 10am to noon, starting on July 27.

The second will also be held on the fourth Monday of every month at St Peter’s Church in High Street, March, from 2pm to 4pm, again starting on July 27.

The third session will be held in the Community Room at Tesco Extra in Cromwell Road, Wisbech, on the second Monday of every month, from 10am to noon, starting on August 10.
