New signs have been installed at Fenland’s leisure centres.

Fenland District Council members agreed to install new signs, which combine the centre’s traditional names with the logo of the New Vision Fitness brand, last year.

The signs have been installed at the George Campbell Centre in March, the Hudson Centre in Wisbech and the Manor Centre in Whittlesey. The designs were drawn up following extensive comment from local people in all three towns.

Cllr Michelle Tanfield, cabinet member for leisure, said: “I’m very pleased that this new signage reflects both the history of all the centres and contribution of their benefactors and the improvements we are now making under our New Vision Fitness branding.

“Local residents made their feelings very clear about the importance they placed on retaining the traditional names and we have responded to that.”

Meanwhile, work is continuing on the major overhaul of the George Campbell Centre.

The swimming pool has re-opened after a three-week closure that was needed to enable essential work on the roof and the relining of the pool to take place.
