Norfolk Police issue traffic safety warning after heavy rain

Motorists are being urged to take care on Norfolk’s roads this afternoon following heavy rain earlier today.

Police say that, although only a handful of weather-related calls have been made to the force’s control room, roads in many areas are likely to have standing water on them.

Inspector Keith Philpot, said: “Drivers should slow down and beware of the extra water on the roads, which is quite deep in places and can take you by surprise.

“Even when the rain stops care should still be taken as it will take some time for the water to disappear.”
