Number of prosecutions has dropped by over a third in three years according to figures




Fewer crimes are leading to prosecutions in Cambridgeshire, amid warnings of a "crumbling" legal system.

Legal experts say a lack of police resources is leading to cases being shelved, following a fall in prosecutions across England and Wales.

New Ministry of Justice data shows that 16,284 offences reported by Cambridgeshire Constabulary end up in prosecution in 2018 – 34 per cent fewer than three years earlier.
