THERE are just a few days left until Ride for Your Lives takes place and a regional life-saving charity is urging local people to get on their bikes to raise money and keep the service in the air.
Ride for Your Lives, which takes place on Sunday 10 June, has been organised by the East Anglian Air Ambulance and will involve a nine mile sponsored cycle ride around picturesque Grafham Water near Huntingdon in Cambridgeshire.
Chris Donaldson, Area Fundraising Manager for EAAA, said: “We want to host something that involves the whole family and a cycle ride is a perfect way to enjoy the area and raise money to keep our dedicated air ambulance helicopters and highly trained crews in the air. This is a fun event, not a competitive one, because we want families and people to come along and have a fun and affordable day out and help raise vital funds for this local service.”
The family event is also open to individual cyclists; riders can either bring their own bikes or hire them from Grafham Cycling at a discounted rate. Those taking part can choose to cycle the circular lake course once, twice or as many times as they choose. The course is off road and relatively easy and is suitable for riders of all abilities.
The registration fee for families to take part is £20 and individual riders will be asked to pay a fee of £10. People can either register beforehand or simply turn up on the day. For further details call Chris Donaldson on 01733 367208 or email email@example.com. Full first aid cover, technical back up and marshalling will be on site during the event.
The East Anglian Air Ambulance operates two dedicated air ambulance helicopters across East Anglia. Highly trained and skilled doctors and paramedics fly aboard, seven days a week, covering the counties of Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk.
