Stewart Hearn, a master glass blower who has relocated to Chatteris from London, is holding a Christmas open weekend.
Stewart has 30 years’ experience of blowing glass using traditional craft methods to create contemporary and functional glassware. A life-long ambition of Stewart’s was realised when he found a cottage in the town with a listed barn on the grounds. He and his ceramicist wife Kathryn moved in and set to work converting the barn into a state-of-the-art glass blowing studio.
The studio is close to completion in time for the annual Christmas Open Weekend on December 8 from 10am to 7pm and December 9 from 11am to 6pm with mulled wine, mince pies and hourly glass blowing demonstrations. Alongside his own work Stewart brings designs to life for the likes of Established and Sons, Decode, Kelly Hoppen and Michellin-starred restaurant Hibiscus. He was awarded Master of Craft in the Glass and Ceramics category for the inaugural The Balvenie Masters of Craft Awards 2011.
