WATERLEES adventure playground received its official opening on Saturday.

A family fun day was held to mark the opening of the £1m playground, which has been at the centre of much controversy since it was open to the public.

Wisbech Mayor Nick Meekins had the honour of cutting the ribbon. Cllr Martin Curtis, Cambs County Council’s Cabinet Member for Children, was also in attendance.

The final piece of equipment for the playground has recently been installed. The ‘self build’ area is the first of its kind in the world and has been specially designed for the playground.

Children are able to make platforms and dens. Climbing nets and rope walkways can also be moved.
