Paramedic in hospital after crash
A student paramedic remains in a serious condition in hospital after being hit by a car on Friday (January 13).
The man was reported to be walking along the B1145 at Bawsey, near the Sandboy, after his ambulance had broken down.
He was involved in a collision with a blue Vauxhall Mocho at 4.10pm.
The paramedic suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge.
In a statement the ambulance service says: “Last Friday, one of our colleagues was struck by a vehicle on the B1145 in Bawsey, Norfolk, whilst on duty. They were airlifted to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, in Cambridge, and remain in a serious, but stable condition.
“At this very difficult time, our thoughts and support are with and directed towards our colleague, their loved ones and other work colleagues.”
An investigation has been launched into the collision and any witnesses are being urged to contact the Norfolk Police Serious Collision Investigation Team on 101.
