Parson Drove Pre-School maintains its good grade

A Fenland pre-school is maintaining its high standards while driving forward improvements, according to education inspectors.

Ofsted has rated Parson Drove Pre-School as ‘good’ in all aspects of early years education following its latest inspection.

The pre-school, based at the Alderman Paye primary School, was last inspected six years ago, when it was also judged as ‘good’.

Early years manager Carol Grooms said: “I believe we have maintained the rating through constant self-reflection, continuing professional development, and the most important part of our job – placing the children at the heart of every decision we make.”

She added: “I am very proud of the staff for their continuous commitment and enthusiasm in making our pre-school a happy and safe learning environment.”

The Ofsted report, published last week following the inspection in February, said the management team demonstrates “great determination in driving improvements forward”.

It said monitoring of children’s progress is “especially robust” and clearly identifies children who need more support – helping them all make good progress.

The report also praised the quality of teaching, saying all staff understood how children learn and competently led activities to help them develop new skills.

Children also settle in well, and feel confident and secure in the care of staff. They also play well together and develop friendships quickly.
