Two local councillors have called for the re-opening of Wisbech’s Horsefair centre toilets in the wake of receiving complaints about the closure.
The toilets were closed earlier this year due to vandalism. County councillors Alan Lay and Paul Clapp would like to see them re-opened - at least six days a week during day time as people using buses and taxis need these facilities. The toilets were open for Halloween on Thursday.
A spokesperson for the shopping centre said: “We are pleased to be able to open the centre’s toilets on days when events are running, on these occasions the facilities can be monitored frequently. The centre cannot provide a member of staff to monitor the toilets throughout the day each day so they will remain closed. We are currently investigating implementing a pay on entry system in the New Year, which will offer shoppers a safer environment and help to deter anti-social behaviour.”
