Plans go in to extend King’s Lynn Recycling Centre

Lynn Recycling Centre could be extended if planners give the green-light.

Norfolk County Council has announced plans to accept small amounts of trade waste and increase the shop at the Willows Business Park site.

A change of use planning application has been lodged with the planning department at county hall.

Currently trade waste is not accepted at the Saddlebow centre but the scheme would work similarly to Pay as You Throw initiative.

The planning statement says: “The scheme will support local business in Norfolk providing a disposal point for small volumes of waste. Introduction of a scheme allowing traders to use the site will not compromise the primary function of the site to provide a service for Norfolk householders. Waste collected on site will be sent for recycling, reuse or disposal as requirement.”

The council is also looking to sell items such as compost bins, green waste sacks, Christmas trees and logs on occasions.

It also hopes to extend the on-site shop after the removal of a container previously used for paint.

The proposed extension measures 4.5m x 5m, this is a 50% increase in the current footprint.
