Plaque celebrates old Stone Cross

A COMMEMORATIVE plinth and plaque is to be unveiled at March Stone Cross at 3pm on August 8.

The stone plinth and plaque are a gift to the town from March Rotary Club.

The plaque outlines the history of the Old Stone Cross in The Causeway and the presentation is also in celebration of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

Hugh Duberly, the Lord Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire, is due to attend the ceremony which the Rotary Club also hopes will be attended by the Bishop of Huntingdon, the Rt Rev David Thomson.

The text on the plaque has been written in conjunction with local historian Trevor Bevis and Edna Stacey from March Museum and it features the March Town and Rotary crests.
