Player of year Millson leaves Wisbech Town

Midfielder Adam Millson has announced he is leaving Wisbech Town FC to join Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Division One South side Spalding United.

‘Milly’ made 167 appearances in three-and-a-half seasons for the Fenmen, scoring around 30 goals.

He picked up the Supporters’ Player and Players’ Player of the Year awards last season, as well as being the only player to reach a half century of appearances in 2014-15, and was a major factor in helping Dick Creasey’s side to third in the UCL Premier Division last season.

Millson scored 11 goals for Wisbech in 43 appearances last season, including three penalties, and played under Tulips boss Pat Rayment when he was assistant manager at Stamford.

Rayment said: “Millson is a player I’ve had my eye on and he was talking to a lot of UCL managers, so there’s no doubt that he’s not just joined us to play Step Four football.

“He’s here to be in a promotion-chasing team.”

Goalkeeper Lea Jordan is another player who sees his future away from the Elgood’s Fenland Stadium. His third stint with the club ends with him on 175 appearances since making his debut in 2010.

Winger Matt Lunn will not be returning next season as he has secured a job in Spain. Loyal Lunn has already been travelling from London after securing a teaching job there for more than a year.

Lunn made a total of 224 appearances over the course of five seasons, with 35 goals to his name.

The club would like to place on record its appreciation to all three players for their hard work and wish them well for the future.
