Plea to help Wisbech teenager Jessica’s Hollywood dreams come true

An aspiring actress is hoping the community will help her make her Hollywood dreams closer to a reality and sponsor her place at acting school.

Jessica Richardson, 16, from Wisbech, has earned a place at Stageworks Studios in St Neots after completing her GCSEs this summer.

But while her place is guaranteed and funded for the coming year, any extra classes such as vocal lessons, and audition preparation work are provided at an extra cost – and Jessica will need to find around £2,200 to enjoy the full experience.

She also will be living away from home for the first time and needs to pay rent of £500 a month – this is partly funded to the tune of £380 but her family will have to supplement the rest, and they will also have to pay the first month in advance.

As a consequence of family circumstances her mum Tasha Richardson has set up a Gofundme page to help meet Jessica’s additional costs.

She said: “Jessica has always loved performing. She was a member of the Angles Theatre and performed in a number of productions, but unfortunately, when I separated from her Dad she had to stop going because of the cost.

“She has also been a member of LJ Dance School, and has performed in school productions. It is her dream to become a Hollywood movie star and I want to help her make that dream come true.”

Tasha was worried about appearing to beg for help, but added: “My friend suggested I set up a Gofundme page, it was difficult for me to do that because I don’t want people to think I’m begging, but at the same time if that what it takes to help Jessica get a career as an actress, then I’m prepared to do it.”

She added: “She has made me very proud by being accepted to such a prestigious stage school – she had to undergo auditions to get in – now I just want her to take full advantage of the opportunity. If people can help her to do that, then I will be eternally grateful – who knows she could be the Marilyn Monroe of Wisbech.”

Jessica, who is due to collect her GCSE results from the University Academy in Long Sutton, where she has just completed her secondary schooling, tomorrow and Tasha added: “She has worked very over the last six months in preparation for the exams, so she is hoping to have done well.”
