Two police community support officers have received commendations for bravery over an incident in Wisbech.

PCSOs Helen Norton-Smith and Dave Russ were recognised in a ceremony last night for their actions in detaining a violent man in the town last year.

A post on the FenCops Twitter feed said: "They put themselves in danger in order to protect a woman who was being attacked."

The pair received their awards from the area commander, Supt Andy Gipp.
