Police make arrest in connection death of March lorry driver

Police have arrested a man in connection with the death of a March man in a collision on the A141 at Hartford.

Philp Asplin, 59, of Cedar Close, March, sadly suffered fatal injuries after the lorry he was driving collided with another HGV and instantly caught fire on March 10.

The other lorry caught fire a short while later, however the driver, a 23-year-old man from Hornchurch, Romford, Essex, managed to escape although was taken to Hinchingbrooke Hospital serious but not life threatening injuries.

He has today (March 17) been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and is currently in police custody in Huntingdon.

Officers are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or saw either of the vehicles leading up to the moments before the incident.
