ELM: The Dale housing plan due for planning discussion by Fenland District Council

A plan to demolish a former sheltered housing complex in Elm and replace it with 21 houses is due to be debated at Fenland District Council’s planning committee meeting on Wednesday.

The application by Roddons Housing Association would see The Dale, on Begdale Road, demolished and affordable housing put up in its place. This would be made up of 14 two-bed houses and seven three-bed, in a mix of terraced and semi-detached dwellings.

Elm Parish Council have objected to the plan, as have two residents, with some of the reasons given as overdevelopment of the site, overlooking concern and lack of space at local schools. The plan also received one letter of support.

Planning officers recommend that the application be granted, subject to a Section 106 that will be linked to another development application in Eastrea. This second application is by Stepford Homes, which wants to build 14 houses on land off Wype Road in Eastrea.
