Power is restored after underground cable fault left Wisbech town centre in the dark

The lights came back on at 2pm after a large section of Wisbech town centre was without power for almost four hours.

The majority of Wisbech High Street, down to Bridge Street, lost power, plus some shops on the Market Place. Both Nationwide and Halifax were out of operation, as was the Post Office.

A spokesperson from UK Power Networks put the power cut down to an underground cable fault, which caused the outage to happen at 10.15am this morning, affecting up to 75 customers.

UK Power Networks apologised for any inconvenience caused.
