THE NEW Year signals the new search for Fenland’s unsung heroes and heroines.
The Citizen and Fenland District Council today launches the search for the Pride of Fenland for 2012 and this year there’s a new category.
As well as honouring individuals and groups, this year we are looking for young unsung heroes.
As a result, a new category has been added - The Young Citizen Award for deserving young people up to the age of 21.
With this new category the organisers hope to encourage nominations for young people who are YOUR unsung heroes for their work in the community.
The existing category of Good Neighbour will remain but this year, it also includes a volunteer working for a group, club, organisation or charity.
The third category remains to honour a local group, club, organisation or charity.
We are looking for individuals, groups and organisations who go out of their way to help others and make a difference.
We need you to start nominating NOW ready for the judges to deliberate in February followed by the presentation evening in March.
All the information you need to know about how to nominate is on page 3 along with the nomination form. Nominations close on February 3 at 5pm.
You can also nominate online and details of how to do this are also on page 3.
The awards are in three categories and each category winner receives a prize of £100.
More details of the type of people we are looking for in the categories can also be found inside with the nomination form.
If you know someone who goes that extra mile or someone who deserves recognition for whatever reason, make sure you put them forward for a Pride in Fenland award.
Hurry up and start voting - don’t leave it to the last minute. Nomination forms will be repeated in subsequent issues of the Citizen and some of the nominees with be featured in the paper.
Forms should be returned to the Citizen offices at 11 Union Street in Wisbech.
Please mark you nomination: “Pride in Fenland”.
