Twenty new starter homes could be built on a derelict Wisbech town centre site.
A public exhibition is being held on October 15 to outline the developer’s proposals for the site off St Augustine’s Road, which formerly housed The Blackfriars pub.
If all goes well, the developer, Eco House Builders Ltd, hopes to submit a planning application to Fenland District Council towards the end of the year or early into 2014.
The proposal is for modern, open plan, two-storey starter homes with apartment-style living accommodation privately owned, owner/occupied properties.
People interested in finding out more about the proposal are invited to come along to the public exhibition which is being held in the Boathouse Business Centre by Studio 11 Architecture on behalf of Eco House Builders Ltd.
The exhibition will run from 6pm to 8pm when illustrations and more details about the proposed scheme will be on show.
Members of the design team will be on hand to talk through the proposals and answer questions.
Kris Baxter, director of Studio 11 Architecture Ltd, said: “Eco House Builders Ltd is an established local house builder specialising in starter homes aimed at first time buyers throughout Fenland and West Norfolk.
“Over the past ten years, Eco House Builders Ltd have built up a deep understanding of this sector of the housing market.”
He added first time buyers are struggling to get on to the housing ladder and this problem is compounded by the Fens being a low wage area.
