A geography teacher is celebrating after achieving one of the highest awards in guiding.

Kate Taylor, of Wisbech, and a former Rainbow Leader, has been presented with the Queen’s Guide award after completing the challenging syllabus in just under two years. As part of the award, Kate organised an exploration of York and created a water challenge badge.

She was presented with her award by county commissioner Jean Verney during a tea party in Wisbech. Kate said: “I have enjoyed all of the Queen’s Guide work. There was not one element that I preferred over another. “I never believed that I would be able to complete a Race for Life, as the furthest I had previously run was round the corner. “Joining a running club was a big step, but everyone was really supportive. Completing the Queen’s Guide Award has been a real challenge.” Kate is pictured above with her award along with her mentor Rosa Blunt and county commissioner Jean Verney. Picture: SUPPLIED
