An online petition, calling for support to re-open the Wisbech railway link, has resulted in almost 300 signatures within a week.
The petition, which can be found on the website http://wisbechrail.org.uk/ will be presented to Cambs County Council, Peter Wakefield, chairman of the Railfuture East Anglia Branch explained.
The petition and a website called “Reconnecting Wisbech to the national rail network” have been launched by the national rail campaign organisation which wants to see a direct train service from Wisbech to Cambridge.
The petition is calling for an eventual hourly train service from Wisbech to Cambridge which will also benefit March and Manea. Anyone wanting to collect signatures on paper can download a form from the petition site.
