More police community support officers will be out on the beat in Wisbech to reassure the community.
Fenland Police chiefs will be able to call on more officers to conduct high visibility patrols in the coming weeks.
Operation Padshaw has been launched following a number of posts shared on Facebook.
Operations manager Insp Will Davis is calling on the community to take a proportional response.
He said: “Wisbech is still a safe place to walk down the street. We do not want to belittle any incident which has occurred but we do need to strike a balance.
“We have managed to secure some funding so we can call on officers across the force to increase visibility in the town centre at high footfall times or in the parks.
“They will not be there to prevent offences but to give the reassurance to the community. If anything happens we will deal with it.”
