New support group for those with an invisible illness is being launched in Chatteris
Residents in Chatteris suffering from invisible illnesses will continue to get support following the recent closure of Cambridgeshire Invisible Illness Support.
Steve Nicholson, a former member of CIIS, is launching the Chatteris group under a new name, Chatteris Wellness Support.
Steve Nicholson said: “I am sad to see the closure of CIIS. I would like to thank Hayley Ellis for all the time she put into the group, and for all the advice she has given me prior to setting up this new group. I feel the group provided vital support and signposting for residents of Chatteris, and didn’t want to see that end. Chatteris Wellness Support is built on the former Chatteris group. Although it will primarily focus on supporting those with invisible illnesses, Chatteris Wellness Support also expands to cover other health conditions. We will focus on supporting people on the path to wellness. We will focus on wellness, rather than illness.”
Chatteris Wellness Support will be open to residents of Chatteris and the surrounding area and will provide a safe place to find support and guidance, share stories of conditions and also make friends.
Residents are welcome to attend the sessions, gain support and take part in some creative activities. Children will always welcome at the sessions. Sessions will take place four-weekly on a Monday with an afternoon session starting at 12.30pm and an evening session starting at 6.30pm.
Chatteris Wellness Support will hold an inaugural meeting to form the committee and officially launch the new group.on Monday (13) at 5pm at the Chatteris Children's Centre, all welcome and refreshments will be provided. A support session will also take place directly after the meeting.
