Residents ‘over the moon’ with digester refusal

Planners have refused an application to build an anaerobic digester.

Members of Fenland District Council’s planning committee unanimously agreed to refuse Fengrain planning permission to build the digester on its site in Hook Lane, Wimblington.

Councillors turned down the application on grounds of visual impact, traffic, noise and odour.

Plan opponent Arthur Lamb said: “We are over the moon. It was a unanimous decision by the planning committee and we are very pleased about that.

“There is still the appeal for the first application in January and we are going to fight that. We were supported by councillors. They really did help us.”
