The Citizen made a dream come true for Wisbech man Robert Smith in April.

Wrestling fan Robert, who has Proteus syndrome and is practically bed-bound, had not left his home for more than a year but the Citizen and its loyal readers banded together to get him to a WWE wrestling show in Nottingham.

Not only did Robert get to see the show, he also met his favourite wrestler John Cena before watching the show.

After Robert’s plight was featured in the Citizen, an appeal was launched to get him a wheelchair so mum Rita could take him out of the house. The appeal raised £10,000 after national publicity and Robert was told in November that he would finally be getting his wheelchair.
