Wisbech resident Ruby Butwright is all smiles as she celebrates her 100th birthday.
The pensioner marked her landmark birthday on Friday with a small party at Lyncroft Care Home.
She has only lived in the care home for a year and a half and staff marvel at the fact she takes no medication and is still “sprightly”.
Ruby was born into a farming family, one of six children, and lived in several different places around Fenland and West Norfolk. She left school at the age of 14 or 15 and remembers taking care of her young sister. She later worked on the land, picking in fruit orchards around Wisbech St Mary.
Ruby married her husband John when they were both in their 40s. She did not have any children but had extended family through her siblings.
