Sarah hopes to help others in the Chatteris area to lose the pounds
For years Sarah Doyle told herself it was OK to be fat but deep down she knew she needed to take action.
Then a trip to the theatre with her then seven-year-old daughter in August 2016 was the day she decided enough was enough.
She said: “I had taken my daughter to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory – cheap seats in the Gods via the back door), I honestly thought I was going to die when I reached the top, I could hardly breathe and it took me several moments to recover.
“That was it! I had this small person who needed their mum around as long as possible, a mum who could do things with her, like take her to the theatre, and the theme parks.
“I needed to try one more time, if for nobody else, I had to try to do this for her.”
It was then that Sarah joined Slimming World and since then she has not looked back.
She said: “In my first week I lost 6lbs, I was astounded – I’d never eaten so much, and bacon. Just over two years later and 9st 2.5lbs lost forever, here we are and I actually weigh less than I did when I went on my first diet at the age of 18 (by 1st 5lbs).
“ I even took up Zumba and ballroom dancing for a while, and I completed a 5k Insane Terrain Assault Course/charity run in September – I could never have done that before.
“I am healthier, I have more energy, I don’t get as out of breath, and the best thing ever was when my now nine-year-old told me how happy she was she could get her arms all the way around me now to give me a hug.”
As a result of her success Sarah is now hoping to help others achieve their weight loss goals and is relaunching a Slimming World group at Chatteris Cricket Club on Thursday evenings from 5.30pm and 7.30pm.
The first meeting is Thursday (1) and anyone interested in learning more about what Slimming World has to offer is welcome to go along.
Sarah concluded: “I never thought I could do it, but I did. Think you can’t do it? Yes you can, with the support of a consultant and others who are trying to lose weight, too.”
