A man was left with serious injuries following an assault in Elm on Friday.

The attack on the 40-year-old happened on Friday (April 4) at just after 7pm in Low Road. Officers believe the assault may be linked to an argument the victim had in the Elm Tree pub some time earlier.

The victim was kicked and punched by five men and suffered serious but not life threatening injuries, which were treated at Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

DC Rachel Weeks said: “It was daylight and there would have been people around when this nasty assault took place so I would urge them to get in touch.”

A 41-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the assault and released on police bail to return on May 23.

This follows an assault on a man in Outwell Road, Elm, just two days previously, which left him with a broken jaw. Danny Horn, of no fixed abode, has been charged and remanded in custody pending a crown court hearing later this month.
