WISBECH has been unsuccessful in the second round of Portas Pilots schemes.
The government has announced the winning towns and unfortunately this second bid to for money towards regernating the town centre has failed.
Temporary chairman Sara Kedge said: “Of course we’re disappointed. As a team we worked very hard on polishing and improving the original bid.
“Unfortunately, the improved bid was unsuccessful, but the process of revising the documents has brought us together as a stronger, more accomplished and more ambitious group of likeminded people.”
Wisbech Town Team has already been looking towards the future, with or without help from the Portas scheme. Its Societies, Clubs & Groups Summit, to be held at The Boathouse in Wisbech, on July 31, marks a new beginning as the Team sets itself up to bring about positive change in the town.
Through a combination of its passion for Wisbech, the local knowledge of its members and their individual talents, Wisbech Town Team is determined to make a real difference, working with the townsfolk for the benefit, enjoyment and prosperity of all.
