Second teenager dies after crash on Boxing Day

A second teenager has died following a Boxing Day car crash.

Jake Paxton, 18, from Bury St Edmunds, died in hospital from injuries suffered in the collision between two cars on the A14 at nearby Rougham, Suffolk Police said.

He was a passenger in a grey Ford Fiesta which collided with a black Vauxhall Corsa on the eastbound carriageway at 9.30pm on December 26 and was rushed to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge afterwards.

His fellow Fiesta passenger William Smedley, who was also 18 and from Bury St Edmunds, died at the scene, police said.

In a statement Mr Smedley's family said he was a "caring son, loving grandson, doting big brother, a loyal, kind, generous beautiful young man, gone but never ever forgotten."

The male driver of the Fiesta was also taken to hospital with injuries not thought to be life-threatening.

The Corsa's 19-year-old female driver was uninjured.
