Sixties theme for wedding

WELL-known local dance teacher Lisa Dickinson tied the knot with long-term partner Mattie Fuller at St Peter’s Church, March on Friday.

Dozens of people stood outside the church to watch the bride arrive for the service, which was conducted by the Rev Anthony Chandler, in a 1965 VW Camper van owned by Deb and Martin Haynes.

The bride’s chosen mode of transport fitted with the 1960s theme of the wedding, which also saw her wearing an authentic 1966 wedding dress.

Her bridegroom arrived on a Scooter in a procession of other Scooter owners, who lined their machines up outside the church.

The bride, who runs the ever-popular Dance Mania group, had seven attendants including the couple’s daughters Lyla (5), who was the flower-girl and Lola, who will be two in June, was a bridesmaid.

Other bridesmaids were: Freya Chambers, Becky Key, Gemma Barber and Daniel MacAlister and page boy was Freddy Robinson.

After the service the couple travelled to the reception at the Braza Club in the Camper Van with the Scooters leading the way through the town.

Speaking on Monday Lisa described the day as ‘perfect’ and said the church service, which was packed by well-wishers, had been the lovely.

And she added the couple were planning a honeymoon at a later date.
