Great to see Wisbech Museum open again
Here's the monthly Culture Focus (Hidden Gems) column by Lorena Hodgson of Red Barn Creative...
I’m so pleased to see the Museum open again on Thursdays and Saturdays. There’s a new exhibition (see last week’s Citizen) and they’re working on the new entrance so full access available soon.
The High Street Project is zooming ahead with its activities programme, with experts talking on various subjects of interest, particularly focussed on the built environment. Watch on social media for these events as they come up, or look for posters in the Hub.
Community Hub update
We’ve brought in some new product lines to create the different ranges that we want to have in the Hub retail area.
We have brought in some eco products that have no plastic, but are still great for cleaning duty – dish washing sponges and scourers, glass bottles with pumps to hold your own cleaning concoctions. We also have compostable bin liners for your veg peelings, and dog poop bags.
Other ranges include retro, local makers and local history. We will have something on each day – currently we have a creative drop-in on Tuesday afternoons, at 1pm for an hour. We have a community rag rug that you can add to, or bring your own.
Wednesdays will have a Repair Cafe where we help you fix things rather than have them sent to landfill. If you remember changing plugs and know how to mend clothes, then you may want to join us as a fixer.
If you have something that’s broken and needs a simple repair, then we can help you do that – we won’t fix it for you, we’ll show you the skills and give you the confidence to do it yourself.
We’ll be starting this fully in the next couple of weeks, but register your interest via email or pop in any time.
We’ll be changing the window display to reflect the seasons and highlight each theme and range as we develop - have a look and come in to see us with any ideas of your own – what have you always wanted to see in the town centre?
