Childhood sweethearts Thelma and Harold Readshaw celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary on Thursday.
Thelma and Harold, who are both now 78 years old, first met as young children in Thorney, where they attended the same school.
The couple lost touch when Harold went to Wisbech Grammar School but then started courting as teenagers before marrying at the age of 18 in Thorney Abbey.
Thelma worked in the Thorney Co-op until she was married, then remained at home to look after daughters Marilyn and Janice. She returned to work when the girls were older, working in the hospital and later for Gordon Mansell. Harold also worked for Gordon Mansell, until they were made redundant.
The couple, who now live in Walsoken, have four granddaughters and a great-granddaughter, with another grandchild on the way. They celebrated their special day with dinner out and then had a large family meal on Saturday.
