Students and staff at Marshland High School achieve beyond expectations with GCSE results in line with the top 20 per cent of schools nationally




The students and staff at Marshland High School are celebrating another year of strong GCSE results.

The results show that the students at the school in West Walton have made substantial progress during their time at school.

The combined results for English and maths achieving passes at grade 4 and ‘strong’ passes at grade 5 have increased yet again on the previous year and is in the top 20 per cent for progress in the country according to comparative data from the Fischer Family Trust.

Science, another core subject, has also excelled with the students' performance - also within the top 20 per cent of schools nationally.

Headteacher Mr Craig Jansen said: “We are exceptionally proud of all our students and I would like to congratulate them all on their superb performance. Both staff and students went above and beyond expectations to achieve outcomes in line with the top 20 per cent of schools nationally.”

Students at Marshland High achieved well in the English Baccalaureate (Ebacc) subjects which are highly rated to further study and open many doors for students, demonstrating the commitment of Marshland High School to raise aspirations in the local area.

"All of our students have been offered a place to continue their post-16 education with a rise in the students applying to study at Springwood 6th Form.

There were a number of very high achieving students including Henry Lunn who said: “I’m very happy with my results. I would like to thank everybody at Marshland High School for their help and support over the past five years.”

Henry is going on to study A-Levels at Springwood Sixth Form in King's Lynn in computer science, chemistry, maths and further maths.

Steve Cozens, chairman of the governors commented: “The school has achieved another very strong set of GCSEs supported by a dedicated and hardworking team of staff.”

Mr Jansen added: "We look forward to another successful academic year and we wish all our Year 11 leavers the very best as they embark on the next stage of their education."
