Disability charity Papworth Trust is searching for people to take part in an exciting endurance walk to raise funds to support their work.

The Thames Path Challenge, which will be held on 14 and 15 September 2013, is a testing sponsored walk or run along the scenic River Thames. Participants can choose between a 100km, 50km and 25km route along the Thames Path National Trail.

One of the people who has already signed up for the challenge is Jo Revitt, who works for Papworth Trust’s fundraising team. Jo will be tackling the 25km route, and has set herself a fundraising target of £1,000.

“Since I started at Papworth Trust 7 months ago I’ve been looking for an opportunity to do something extra to my day job,” said Jo. “I wanted to take on an exciting challenge and raise funds to support the Trust’s work at the same time.

“The Thames Path Challenge was the perfect opportunity. I haven’t really done anything like this before, but I use the gym 4 times a week and I’ve been doing some distance walking. I’m looking forward to the atmosphere on the day, and of course, crossing the finishing line!”

Annette Angell, fundraising manager at Papworth Trust said: “If you are looking for a new fundraising activity or just want something to aim for, then the Thames Path Challenge is the perfect event.

“Not only is it a great challenge, but the money you raise for us will go towards supporting disabled people and their families in your community. We provide a range of essential services, such as support with care and youth clubs for disabled young people.

“You can sign up with a team of friends or colleagues, or do it as an individual and meet fellow trekkers on the day. Whatever you choose, our experienced fundraising team will be on hand to support you every step of the way.”

Registration fees are £60 for the 50km challenge, which has a fundraising target of £275. Or it costs £85 to register for the 100km challenge, which has a fundraising target of £400. It costs £35 to register for the 25km challenge, which has a fundraising target of £145.
