The Spa at Bedford Lodge is new sponsor of 2013 ‘Fashion at the Festival’

Thousands of ladies and gents are getting ready for ‘Fashion at the Festival’ during Newmarket Racecourses’ Piper-Heidsieck July Festival.

The new sponsor this year is The Spa at Bedford Lodge which will open for the first time just a week before one of the racing and social highlights of the year on The July Course.

‘Fashion at the Festival’ attracts over 2,500 entrants, with the summer racecourse turned into a sea of colour and high fashion.

As always there will be fantastic prizes for the ‘Best Dressed Lady’. New for 2013 is ‘Best Dressed Gentleman’ so the boys may even outdo the girls for fashion!

The first 1,000 entrants for ‘Fashion at the Festival’ are guaranteed a £30 gift voucher from Espa, while the lucky winner of an ‘Entrants Raffle’ will walk off with an array of wonderful prizes courtesy of Velvet magazine.

Amy Starkey, regional director of Jockey Club Racecourses, said: “We’re looking forward to a spectacular 2013 Piper-Heidsieck July Festival and are delighted to welcome The Spa at Bedford Lodge as the new sponsor of ‘Fashion at the Festival’.

“Newmarket Racecourses hosts East Anglia’s most stylish summer festival. Over the three days, spectacular outfits and hats are seen in the grandstands, on the sun-kissed lawns and around the picturesque parade ring. On the track, some of the finest thoroughbreds from around the world compete for their share of over £1.5 million prize-money and the ultimate glory in some of Europe’s top summer races.”

The Piper-Heidsieck July Festival takes place between Thursday 11 and Saturday 13 July. It is many people’s favourite summer race meeting in Britain.

Thursday is Ladies’ Day, when the £100,000 Princess of Wales’s Stakes is the feature race.

Abu Dhabi Gentlemen’s Day on Friday includes the £180,000 Etihad Airways Falmouth Stakes, run over a mile and one of the season’s top races for three-year-old fillies and their elders.

Saturday takes the excitement up one final notch with the running of the Festival’s glittering centrepiece, the £500,000 Darley July Cup. Europe’s premier sprint race is a six-furlong contest that many of the world’s fastest racehorses target, with victory often determining the identity of the continent’s sprinting champion.

The feature races on Friday and Saturday, which are both Group 1s, are part of the QIPCO British Champions Series.

Visitors wishing to enter any of the competitions can do so either online at or by visiting the ‘Fashion at the Festival’ marquee.

Advance purchasers of tickets in the Premier and Grandstand & Paddock Enclosures receive at least 10 per cent off the on-the-day prices which are: Premier £40; Grandstand & Paddock £23; Garden £10 (no discounts). Telephone: 0844 579 3010. Online:
