Taco Bell planning to open in Wisbech

A new Taco Bell appears to be on its way to Wisbech.

The Mexican-inspired fast food chain has applied for planning permission to put up a new sign on one of the empty units next to The Light cinema in the Cromwell Road Leisure Park.

Permission is not required for the actual business to open, as the unit is already permitted for use as a restaurant.

A great granny, a teaching assistant and a young mum are among 29 neighbours celebrating a share of a £1million People’s Postcode Lottery win.

Stunned Joy Rowland, 86, says she’ll fix the garage door at her home in Whittlesey, while across the road Lorraine Daniels, 51, is heading to Australia’s Great Barrier Reef.

And 26-year-old mum Charlotte Harris will use her winnings for an extension to her new house.

Banger racing legend Nicky Young says he feels flattered to have been immortalised on a motorsport mural at the Adrian Flux Arena.

The 41-year-old from Wisbech - a multiple title-winner - is one of three iconic names to take centre stage on the graffiti-styled piece at the King’s Lynn venue. His face appears alongside speedway hero Terry Betts and stock car favourite Mat Newson.

The trio received countless nominations to appear after Adrian Flux asked for suggestions from fans about who should be included.

Plans approved to build over 300 homes on the edge of Wisbech

Councillors have criticised plans to build over 300 homes on the edge of Wisbech with no affordable housing.

Members of Fenland District Council’s planning committee shared their “disappointment” at the lack of affordable housing and financial contributions for local services.

However, they ultimately approved the plans as they said the development was policy compliant.

Wisbech man Todor Todorov tried to present fake Bulgarian licence which he bought on Facebook to police in Walton Highway

A man who was caught using a fake Bulgarian driver’s licence, which he bought on Facebook, has been fined hundreds of pounds.

Todor Todorov, of Prince Street in Wisbech, appeared at King’s Lynn Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, pleading guilty to driving with a counterfeit licence and without valid insurance.

The 26-year-old was stopped by police on Lynn Road in Walton Highway and presented the licence in question.
