Wisbech Park Cafe set to reopen this weekend under new management
A cafe in the heart of Wisbech Park has officially reopened this weekend following a tendering process by the town council.
The cafe at the pavilion was previously operated by Crazy Cow Catering Ltd, but “issues” including the relationship between the company and the council had led to a decision in October to terminate the lease.
Mayor of Wisbech Cllr Sidney Imafidon performed the official opening by cutting a ribbon watched by fellow councillors and members of the public.
There were also some special guests in the shape of Disney favourites Minnie and Mickey Mouse for visitors to meet, and snap a selfie-with.
The cafe previously closed on October 21 and the council launched the process of finding a new operator that month.
However, a lack of interested parties saw the deadline for expressions of interest extended to November, at which point there were three people interested.
An interest from Cambridgeshire County Council was withdrawn before a decision was made to appoint the new operator.
The new operators, who will run the business under the name Wisbech Park Cafe, are already well-known in Wisbech for good food as they run the Italian Affair in New Inn Yard, off Union Street.
They have been carrying out work including some redecoration in time for Sunday’s grand reopening at noon, with the promise of good food, including sandwiches, burgers, cake, and coffees.
Wisbech Park Cafe will be open from 8am to 6pm seven days a week.
