Tractors hit romance of the open road for Upwell Playing Field Committee’s first charity run
Organisers of a charity tractor run to celebrate Valentine’s Day and raise money for good causes were overwhelmed with its success.
The event was the first to be organised by the Upwell Playing Field Committee and was held yesterday (Sunday).
Dozens of tractors took to the road starting from the playing field and heading through Outwell, Emneth, Upwell Sixteen Foot, Christchurch, Tipps End, Welney, Lakes End, Three Holes, and finish back at the starting point.
Drivers paid £10 to enter the run which was raising funds for the East Anglian Air Ambulance and the mental health charity, MIND.
There were some 50 prizes donated for the raffle and local farmers G W Venni Farms Ltd sponsored the perpetual trophy for best-decorated tractor.
The competition was judged by Marcus Hawkins and his wife with Geoff being declared the winner.
Christchurch Community Centre also helped support the event.
The end of the run saw participants and supporters enjoy a hog roast.
