Motirists are advised to avoid the A47 at Wisbech this evening (Thursday) as traffic is backed up following an earlier incident.

The road was closed for a time at the B&Q/Elme Hall roundabout and although traffic is now moving, it is slow.

The incident in question was a vehicle fire, spotted by an ambulance crew who were at the Broadend Road junction on the A47, between Elme Hall and the former Little Chef, now Starbucks, at just after 4pm.

There are mixed reports about what has happened but the Citizen understands the vehicle may have still been moving while it was on fire.

The fire service, police and ambulance are at the scene.
