A MARCH couple are warning about an apparent mail scam in the area that appears to be targeting elderly people.
Hugh Hodder, of Maple Grove, received a letter from Delices and Gourmandises, a Belgian bakery, stating he had won a new television and £7,000.
His wife, Suzanne, was naturally suspicious of the letter, which was in the style of the Readers Digest prize draws, particularly as it asked your age.
It states that to collect the TV and cheque, all you have to do is make an order from the company.
However, in the small print, Suzanne discovered that the draw has not actually been made.
Although the company appears to be real, the goods for sale are expensive, costing around £11 for biscuits and she is concerned elderly people may be persuaded to spend a lot of money in a bid to get the prizes.
