As part of the diamond anniversary of St Peter’s Gardens in Wisbech, the Friends of the church have planted a liquidambar tree in place of a diseased cherry tree which had to be removed.
The tree planting was carried out by the Friends of St Peter’s Church – pictured right.
The planting coincides with a photographic competition that has also been arranged to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the gardens.
Members of the public are invited to submit photographs of the gardens in two categories: Class 1) Winter 2012 and Spring 2013; Class 2) Historic photos from before 1953 and up to present day.
Pictured left is an entry from Sandra Jimson.
A £10 prize will be awarded to the winner of each category. The closing date is May 31, 2013.
Entries should be handed into the Fenland Citizen office at 11 Union Street, Wisbech or St Peter’s Church office. Please ensure your name and contact details are on the back of the photograph. If you would like the photograph returned, please enclose a stamped addressed envelope.
